A systematic review of patient-reported outcome measures of psychological birth trauma has recommended the City Birth Trauma Scale as a "credible tool for assessing psychological birth trauma in both clinical practice and research involving puerperae". The review was conducted by Pingping Chen and colleagues from Shiyan, China, and published in the journal Quality of Life Research. They reviewed 12 measures of birth trauma using the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) guidelines to evaluate the methodological quality, psychometric properties, and level of evidence for each measure.
